Wireless Access

Wireless Security

With the rollout of the wireless network this summer a lot of students and teachers want to connect to the KPBSD Staff & Student part with their personal devices.

Some things to keep in mind are:

If it’s a Windows XP system Service Pack 3
If it’s an Ipod touch version 3.0 or newer of the software
If it’s an Apple computer AirPort 4.2 or newer

Other devices may specific technical issues not covered here but

they must support WPA2

in order to connect to the KPBSD Staff & Student wireless network.
Most of the time a software update will fix a connectivity issues but if the hardware doesn’t support the WPA2 encryption standard you won’t be able to connect to the network.

School is back in Session :)

Wifi

This summer the Data Processing crew was busier than ever. We installed over 570 wireless access points and replaced over 800 computers! Things are going good and people are pretty happy with the new options they get by using the wireless networks in the schools.

Volcano

Well we are all now watching Mt. Redoubt and waiting to see what it does.  Make sure to check out the district web page for updates and the Alaska Volcano Observatory has lots of great information and pictures.  Here is one of my favorites.

Spring Break

We are gearing up for our work over Spring Break.  We usually do some wiring or re-imaging of computers and this year is no different.  We will be in Seward working on their new wireless setup at Seward High.
